Kinds of Labs
A lab is a room with the right tools for finding things out. Some labs are inside, in a room or a building. Some labs are outside, where you study the real thing right where it lives. Those are called field labs. Take a look at the kinds of labs below and see what is inside.
Lab 1
Archaeology Lab A place for finding the past.
In the room.
Trowels and soft brushes Sieves for sifting soil Measuring tapes and string grids Hand lenses Trays for pottery pieces Notebooks for drawing finds You study here. Pottery, tools and old bones. You look at what people and animals left behind.
Archaeologists work in museum labs and at dig sites.
