Grandpa Fenn’s story
The Seed That Waited
Mia found a bean in the bottom of a drawer. It was small and hard and dry. It looked like it had been there for years.
She put it in a cup of dirt anyway. She gave it water. Then she waited.
One day, nothing happened. Two days. Three.
On the fourth morning, a tiny pale curl pushed out of the dirt. It bent over like a question mark.
Inside every seed is a baby plant and a little packed lunch. It sleeps until it gets water and warmth. Then it wakes up.
Mia’s bean had been waiting a long time. It was ready.
