A story every morning. A film every morning. And two mysteries only you can solve.
Poppy’s mysteries
Can you solve it?
Poppy found the clues. Grandpa Fenn will not tell. Read them. Make a guess. Then check.
Mystery
The Case of the Missing Ice Cube
An ice cube sat on a plate by a sunny window. Now the cube is gone. Three clues:
The plate is wet.
The window is warm.
Nobody opened the window.
It melted. Warm air gave the ice enough heat to turn into water. Some of that water may even have dried up into the air.
Mystery
The Case of the Shrinking Puddle
A puddle sat in the parking lot after a rainstorm. By afternoon it was half the size. Three clues:
The sun came out.
A breeze was blowing.
Nobody mopped it up and it did not soak in. It was on pavement.
The water evaporated. Sun and wind give water enough energy to float up into the air as vapor. It did not disappear. It went up to become part of the sky.
