Archaeology Lab

Welcome to the museum lab. Old things get cleaned, measured and studied here. Every broken pot is a clue.

Grandpa Fenn

Grandpa FennCome in and wash your hands. We touch old things gently. The best archaeologists are the patient ones.

Three tables to visit

The cleaning table

A soft brush and a little water. We take off the dirt and never scrub the story away.

The measuring table

How long is it. How thick is the wall of the pot. Numbers help us compare.

The microscope table

Tiny marks show how a thing was made. A fingerprint can last for thousands of years.

Which layer is oldest?

Dirt settles in layers. New things land on top and old things get buried. Read the layers and answer.
